Grief technology's entire reputational problem is that it reads as exploitation of bereaved people. The vendor who says "talk to your mother again" gets one sale and a news story. This page is the alternative — and it is not fine print. It is the product.

The persona is not you.
It is a simulation fitted to evidence you supplied. It is not conscious, not sentient, not self-aware, and not continuous with you in any respect. Nothing about running it constitutes your survival. If it is comforting, that comfort belongs to the people using it — it is not evidence that you are still here.

Terminus is not revival.
We preserve and image neural structure because it is the highest-resolution physical record of a specific person that current science can produce. No technology known to us reconstructs a mind from it, and none may ever.
The honest gain to your persona's fidelity over Continuum alone is modest. People buy Terminus because they want the record to exist against a future nobody can promise. That is a legitimate reason. "You will wake up" is not a claim we make, and we refuse the tier to anyone who won't sign an acknowledgement of that.

The head net does not read your mind.
256-channel scalp EEG does not decode thoughts, does not extract memories, and does not reconstruct imagery or unspoken language. Anyone marketing it that way is lying to you.
What it reliably gives: engagement, arousal, affective valence, recognition, surprise, cognitive effort, drowsiness, attentional capture, and your individual response-latency distributions.
Fused with your archive, that produces a response disposition model — not what you would say, but how fast, how warmly, what bores you, what you find funny before you decide to laugh. That is what makes generated text land as you rather than as a well-briefed stranger. It is worth $48,000 for that reason and no other.

It will get things wrong.
Which is exactly why it is built to say so. Below its evidence threshold the persona declines — in your voice, in your characteristic manner — rather than inventing a memory your family might carry for years believing it was real.

We will not ship an unmarked deepfake of a dead person.
Every synthesised artifact carries a cryptographic provenance signature and an audio watermark. Exported video carries a non-removable visible indicator. The persona will not place calls, send messages, or transact with anyone who has not been told what it is.
Families ask us to remove the mark — to send a grandchild a "real" birthday video, to surprise a relative. The answer is always no. That mark is the difference between a memorial and a forgery, and the moment we ship the first unmarked export there is no principled place left to stop.
Asked often enough to need its own section
We do not sell organs. It's a felony.
People ask for it, and the answer is not "we'd rather not." It is criminal, essentially everywhere:
United States
42 U.S.C. §274e — the National Organ Transplant Act. Acquiring, receiving or transferring any human organ for valuable consideration for transplantation. Up to five years' imprisonment and a $50,000 fine.
United Kingdom
Human Tissue Act 2004, s.32 — prohibition of commercial dealings in human material for transplantation.
International
Declaration of Istanbul — the governing professional standard. Violating it ends every clinical partnership this program would need to exist.
Your consent does not cure any of this. These statutes exist precisely to make consent irrelevant, because a market in organs converts poverty into a reason to die. Beyond the criminal exposure: a company that pays for organs cannot obtain a hospital partner, a recovery agency, an insurer, or a payment processor.
NOTA's own carve-out is the mechanism. §274e(c)(2) excludes from "valuable consideration" reasonable payments for removal, transportation, processing, preservation, quality control and storage. Non-transplant anatomical donation for research and education operates lawfully on exactly that basis. So:
- You make a whole-body or research-tissue anatomical gift under the applicable Uniform Anatomical Gift Act — executed separately from the service agreement, revocable until death.
- A licensed recovery partner performs recovery under its own authorisation.
- Documented cost recovery offsets program expense we would otherwise bill you.
- You receive a credit of up to $14,000 against Terminus, itemised against actual documented costs.
The cap is not decoration. An uncapped or profit-linked credit is exactly what would convert a lawful cost offset into valuable consideration.
The US non-transplant tissue sector is thinly regulated at federal level and has a real history of abuse. Being lawful is not the same as being above reproach. So: we publish the recovery partner's identity, we publish the cost breakdown, we cap the credit, and we never make the offset a condition of enrolment or let a sales conversation present it as a way to afford the tier.
On money
The deposit buys a place in line, not a promise.
What the $1,000 is
- Credited in full against whichever tier you later choose
- Refundable for 14 days, no questions, everywhere we operate
- Non-refundable after that — stated plainly, acknowledged before you pay
- Held in segregated escrow, not our operating capital
What it is not
- Not a guarantee of any fidelity band
- Not a guarantee that the persona will satisfy your family
- Not a purchase of any post-mortem outcome
- Not refundable if you simply change your mind on day 15
Fees buy documented best effort against a published rubric. We contract to a fidelity band target with a remediation path — if we miss it, we extend capture at our cost. We do not refund, and we do not guarantee the band.
Escrowed prepayments fund corpus export to every subject, plus a data trust for outstanding Terminus preservation obligations. This is a contractual commitment, not an aspiration — a preservation promise measured in decades, made by a startup, is worthless unless it is funded outside the company.
If any of this changed your mind, it did its job.
We would rather lose the sale than have a family discover in two years that we oversold.
